Whisky Blended Akashi Whisky

500ml BOTTLE

Akashi is a brand of whisky known for a few years, with excellent results obtained in various distillate competitions around the world, even if the reality tells us of a company that has been distilling for over a century. Until 2007 the company choice was oriented towards the production of blended whisky, i.e. union of whisky of wheat and whisky of malt, while from that year onwards it is possible to find it on the market whisky branded Akashi malt only. The difference is substantial: the whisky of malt did not have great success in the first part of the 900s in Japan, then going on to establish itself slowly among the more expert consumers. The blend version, i.e. with greater softness and roundness given by the part of whisky of wheat, makes this typology more usable whisky. Akashi has embraced this line of thinking, and this Akashi Blended Whisky is the most illustrious example: 30% of whisky of malt and 70% of whisky of wheat, to give a taste of enormous pleasure.

TASTE

Nice coherence with the olfactory part, here too the cereals are in evidence, thanks to a suitable gradation for in-depth tasting. The aging in oak barrels delivers spicy notes of white pepper and sweeter notes of vanilla, custard and vanilla. Hints of milk chocolate and some herbaceous notes. Of good persistence. To be experimented in mixing. The constant in whisky Japanese lies in the special care with which the technicians and raw material suppliers work, giving very little room for errors or for ingredients of less than excellent quality. On the other hand, Japan is known for the wise use of wood which, especially when it comes to whisky of wheat - a whisky it tends to require many years of refinement to obtain a superior level result - it is necessary to grant enthusiasts an enchanting, ample and never predictable sip, familiar yet always new.

AGING

Barrels that have contained Shōchū (Japanese distillate) for three years, ex Bourbon and ex Sherry barrels for two years.

good good good.

I was particularly struck by the persistence of the flavour. The fruity character continues to dominate, accompanied by a pleasant sweetness. The delicate presence of wood is manifested without overpowering the other flavours, giving the whisky a balanced and inviting flavour.
