Arran
Arran is a micro distillery founded in 1995 and located on the Scottish island of Arran in the city of Lochranza. The distillery, thanks to the great success achieved in recent years, continues its research through aging in different types of barrels, including those that contained wines such as Amarone and Sauternes.
The production of whisky it is characterized by several aspects: the water, which comes from a small natural lake called Loch Na Davie; the soil of the island is an important source of minerals; the fermentation of the malt which is particularly long, up to 110 hours, thus contributing to the donation of fruity scents, thanks also to elongated stills, which allow the distillate to maintain these notes. Finally the distillation process, which takes place very slowly, in fact it is the second slowest in Scotland.
Today the distillery represents excellence both on basic line products and on special and limited barrels, all under the watchful eye of James MacTaggart, the production manager.
