Port Ellen is located in Scotland and on the opposite Islay island, in 1825, a certain Alexander Ker MacKay founded the distillery of whisky single malt considered, from the outset, one of the best distilleries in Scotland. In 1929 it ceased distillery activity but continued to supply most of Scotland's distilleries producing malted barley. 38 years later, the plant was completely restructured and became a whisky loved and appreciated in the "good" salons of Europe during the years of reconstruction and the economic boom. It was only in 1983 that Port Ellen closed its doors but not before having released a limited number of bottles from barrels aged over 20 and 30 years and in addition to special official bottlings.
