Catoctin Creek Distillery was founded by Beth and Scott Harris in 2009 and is the first Loudoun County distillery to receive a distilling license since Prohibition. Many decades have passed since that dark period and the will of the Harrises is to bring back to life the spirit of the early twentieth century, however adding the quality of the raw materials that come from a very short distance and the care in the distillation, which today can be decisive for achieve a high standard of quality whiskey final.
This edition – defined Distillers Edition – represents a small number of bottles with about a tenth of the casks to be selected to be part of this whiskey: to keep the quality unchanged, the distillery has seen fit to make the alcohol content higher, in order to better express this whiskey of Virginia. The cereals used come from producers close to the distillery: in this case it was decided to create a whiskey rye only.
TASTE: Herbaceous and ripe fruit hints, honey and wood, cedar and lemon, with spices lingering in the finish.
AGING: Virgin American oak charred barrels.
