In 1886 the distillery passed into the hands of the Mackenzie family, who began to supply Whyte & Mackay with the malt for their blends. During the First World War the distillery was converted into a mine factory, but managed to survive; in 1960 Dalmore was officially acquired by Whyte & Mackay. The production is quite high, mainly intended for blending; The whisky it ages in ex Bourbon American oak barrels and selected kegs that have contained Sherry Oloroso; it rests in the distillery warehouses and is blended in ex Sherry casks before bottling. The distillery draws water for its whisky from the River Alness.
