Dewar's Aberfeldy Distillery is located in the Highlands on the outskirts of Aberfeldy. It was founded in 1846 by John Dewar to become a global brand, with over 1000 international awards Dewar's is the whisky most awarded blended tartan in the world.
In 1998, after being owned by Diageo for 70 years, it was bought by Bacardi-Martini and in 1999 they launched the first single malt whisky Aberfeldy 12 years old.
A nice curiosity, the son of the founder Tommy Dewar in 1892 invents the cocktail "The Highball" made with whisky Dewar's white label, ice, soda and lemon. Even today Dewar's Aberfeldy Distillery uses water from the Pitilie Burn known to contain alluvial gold deposits.
The blends are "double aged" with a second rest in oak barrels once the blend has been created; the process gives to whisky from Dewar's Aberfeldy distillery an extra softness, i whisky Indeed, Aberfeldy have a distinct character with honeyed notes.
Dewar's Aberfeldy Distillery uses oak casks, ex-bourbon casks, ex-sherry and ex-madeira casks. Blended wines are part of the range whisky Dewar's from white label to 25 years and Aberfeldy single malts from 12 years to 21 years.
