The distillery is probably one of the oldest in Scotland, in its long history it has undergone numerous closures and then reopened definitively in 1997, the whisky rests in splendid Victorian granite buildings and with characteristic pagoda fireplaces, in front of the distillery stands the famous Bennachie hill on which the majestic Highland deer roam, depicted on the label of this excellent whisky. The barley used has always been heavily peated, although lately there has been a habit of ordering unpeated malted barley. The whisky it matures in its warehouses in ex Bourbon American oak and ex Sherry European oak casks.
