GlenDronach
Glendroanch in Gaelic means "valley of brambles". The distillery was founded by James Allardice in 1826, along with Robert Stuart, William Davidson and John R. Thain at the Boynsmill estate in the Speyside town of Huntly, where they produced their first Single Malt "Guid GlenDronach". Over the years the distillery came under the ownership of Walter Scott in 1847 and Charles Grant in 1920 (son of Glenfiddich founder William Grant). No.el 1960 GlenDronach was bought by William Teacher & Sons for blended Techear's. In 1968, GlenDronach was first launched on the market as a Single Malt, increasing the prestige of this distillery more and more.
From 1996 to 2002 the distillery was taken out of service by the owners Allied Distillers, who sold it to Chivas Brothers.
In 2005 the stills, among the last to lose direct flame heating (coal fire), were converted to steam, always respecting the traditional procedures with which the whisky 200 years earlier.
In 2008 it was taken over byto BenRiach Distillery Company, which held control until 2016, when Brown-Forman Corporation acquired three outstanding Single Malt brands Scotch Whisky: GlenDronach, BenRiach and Glenglassaugh.
The GlenDronach is a whisky with a Highland character: full-bodied and robust, perfect for a long period of maturation in Sherry casks. At the GlenDronach distillery, they have been carrying on the tradition of the founder James Allardice since 1826, maturing the whisky in the best casks of Spanish Pedro Ximenez Sherry and Oloroso from Andalusia.
