Glenkinchie was founded way back in 1837, it is located east of Edinburgh immersed in the "Garden of Scotland" an ideal area for the cultivation of barley since the eighteenth century where a technique was introduced which consisted in fertilizing the soil with seaweed from the Firth of Forth (name of the deep inlet created on the east coast of Scotland by the estuary of the river Forth, where it flows into the north sea), barley ripened early and was appreciated for its lightness. Legend has it that a ghost is haunting the distillery after the body of a maltsman was found behind the malthouses. The treated malt is slightly peated, the alembic used for distillation is among the largest in circulation, it is capable of distilling 31.000 liters per cycle. THE whisky they age in ex Bourbon American oak barrels.
