Whiskey Hudson Manhattan Rye
BOTTLE NOT CARTONED 350ml
Let's jump to the United States, a nation known throughout the world for its significant consumption of whisky of all forms and origins, from the native Bourbon, al whisky Canadian, up to the distillates of Scotland and Ireland, two nations that have given so much in terms of culture to the United States. In the true center of America, i.e. the city of New York, the Big Apple, until a few years ago it was impossible to find a whiskey autochthonous, i.e. coming from the metropolitan area of the city, as Prohibition had closed all the distilleries in the area.
For a few years now it has been possible to taste the new whiskey of New York, i.e. the Hudson Manhattan Rye, the rediscovery of a distillery with over two centuries of history, i.e. Tuthilltown, which today is located in an area of 36 acres north of the metropolitan city, a few steps away from downtown life, with its thousand lights that many have attracted from all over the world. Today the distillery produces four different types of whiskey, but certainly the most iconic is this Hudson Manhattan Rye, aged for a minimum of three years and made from a blend of 95% rye and 5% malted barley.
TASTE
The palate of this Hudson Manhattan Rye is striking for the spicy, peculiar and intense part, also suitable for mixing. It continues with fresh notes of mint and citrus, again dried fruit and yellow fruit, in a truly intriguing blend of flavors.
AGING
Virgin charred American oak barrels.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS ABOUT THE HUDSON MANHATTAN RYE DISTELLERY
The Hudson distillery wants to become a reference point for a new way of conceiving wine whiskey stars and stripes: being located in the Big Apple, a city of unspeakable contrasts, alive and pulsating and full of art, culture, history and magic, Hudson wants to leave aside the country tradition of the classic whiskey to which we are accustomed (such as those of the states of Kentucky and Tennessee) preferring a city, cosmopolitan image, capable of speaking many languages without ever distorting its message and its vision of the future.
The constant and patient search for the best raw materials, combined with the taste for products that are sweet even on their own but effervescent when mixed or with a few ice cubes, has led Hudson Distillery to expand its range with a few but selected products, almost more than the projects that the company undertakes to perfect batch after batch.
It should always be remembered that Hudson Distillery is owned by the William Grant & Sons family, a giant of Scottish distillation that has been family-owned for five generations, one of the names that made the Scotch in the world and that for some years has been trying to make the city of New York an important flag in the ecosystem of whiskey American, uncompromising but also without fear of comparison with the other giants of the US plains.
