Cherry Mountain: this is the meaning behind the word Yamazakura, or the name that the distillery has decided to give to this Blended Whisky. We are in Japan in the city of Koriyama, and Sasanokawa Shuzo was founded in 1765 to produce sake and shochu, the typical Japanese rice derivatives. Since 1946 the distillery has also decided to embark on the production of whisky, going to create elegant and soft blends to meet the taste of local consumers. From that moment on, production has never stopped, even if the most important phase in commercial terms is recent, with enthusiasts from all over the world eager to get their hands on a bottle of whisky Japanese.
The exports are recent, but Yamazakura has managed to be appreciated all over the globe, thanks to the skilful blend of whisky of corn and 20% of whisky of malt, before an important aging in oak barrels that previously contained American Bourbon.
TASTE: The 40% vol makes it accessible to everyone, thanks also to a structure of finesse and elegance played on fruity notes, of ripe fruit, and the consistent notes of refinement, from vanilla to caramel notes and spices that recall the toasting of hazelnuts. With an elegant and soft body, without excessive harshness.
AGING: American oak barrels ex Bourbon.
