Michter's
Originally known as Shenk's and then as Bomberger's, the company of whiskey known today as Michter's, it was founded by John Shenk, in Pennsylvania in 1753. In the mid-50th century, the Dutchman Abraham Bomberger took possession of the distillery, who acquired its name from there. In the 1989s then owner Lou Forman created the current name Michter's from the union of the names of his sons (Michael and Peter). In XNUMX the prolonged crisis in the sector of whiskey led the company to bankruptcy. In 1990 the Magliocco family passionate about whiskey of Michter's, decided to reopen the distillery, moving production to Kentucky. Michter's casks are filled to 103 proof as opposed to the canonical 125 proof of Kentucky; the casks are toasted in a "slow cook" process and then charred to achieve the classic Bourbon and Rye flavour.
