The distillery Miltonduff was founded in 1824 on the banks of the Black Burn, a legend tells that the stream was blessed by the Benedictine abbot of the nearby convent of Pluscarden so as to consecrate the distillate obtained from it as "AQUAVITAE", a name dear to us. In the past the conformation of the territory helped the clandestine distillation since the surrounding hills created an excellent method to signal the arrival of the tax inspectors. An unpeated malted barley is used, the whisky it ages in ex American Bourbon oak barrels.
