Oak barrels.INSIGHT ON WHISKEY NIKKA COFFEY GRAIN
Nikka Coffee Grain Whisky it's a whisky Japanese with a particular prerogative, i.e. produced exclusively using a Coffey still that the Miyagikyo distillery has proudly owned and used since 1963, the year of importation from Scotland. The Coffey still takes its name from its inventor and, for the avoidance of doubt, has no reference to coffee: invented in Ireland by Aeneas Coffey, it allows continuous distillation and it is therefore important that the technician who follows it has high experience in terms of temperatures and distillation progress to achieve the right balance.Il whisky Japanese is experiencing a truly important period of requests from abroad, so much so that most of the products are only available in a few months of the year and Blended Malts of unknown origin are popping up almost everywhere, sometimes the result of the importation of whisky ready from Scotland and other parts of the world, as was permitted by legislation until recently. Nikka is one of the giants of the industry whisky and also of other spirits, being able to count on a long and complex history and on the ownership of strategic distilleries, including Miyagikyo and Yoichi.
Also being able to count on the pioneering approach of Masataka Taketsuru, the true creator of whisky in Japan, Nikka has decided to head straight towards the future, creating various product lines with the company trademark clearly visible, i.e. the accurate production process that is followed in every detail. Nikka is a successful brand and today the products with this brand are well known throughout the world, it is impossible not to find one of these bottles on the shelves of any wine shop in the world, bars and nightclubs.
Nikka Coffee Grain Whisky it is nothing more than a brilliant intuition of the Nikka technicians who were able to exploit a still different from the classic pot stills to give life to a great whisky, whisky suitable for straight consumption and also for mixing.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
Nikka Coffee Grain Whisky it's a whisky Japanese still of great charm that tells of a slightly different production method than usual, namely the use of a particular still which takes its name from its inventor, namely the Coffey still. Let's put aside for a moment the brief assonance with the word Coffee - completely out of place - and let's instead get closer to the world of Nikka, more than a company, a pillar of global Japanese distillation, responsible for an unstoppable success in just a few decades, a success that it is also and above all due to the desire for experimentation and the supply of the best raw materials available.
Nikka Coffee Grain Whisky is largely composed of whisky of corn distilled with the Coffey still and assembled using only the barrels considered best by the Nikka team: a great challenge for a whisky quite well known and equally loved. The barrels of various ages are selected with care and imagination by the master blender who has the right to choose any barrel within the warehouses of Miyagikyo, one of the two main distilleries of the Nikka group together with Yoichi.
