Whisky Paul John Peated Select Cask
700ml BOTTLE
Paul John Peated Select Cask represents a unique opportunity to taste a whisky distilled in India with the added characterization given by the peat. Since there is no peat in India, the Paul John distillery had to get it directly from the source, i.e. Scotland, from the island of Islay and the Aberdeen area, which instead are well stocked. Paul John Distillery began distilling in the mid-90s and first distributed its own whisky in India and England, moving quickly throughout the world when the great quality of these is fully understood whisky.
Besides mentioning the annual evaporation of alcohol which is higher than the whisky which ripen in Scotland, Japan and the United States, the distillery uses a particular six-row barley instead of the canonical two European ones. Barley is grown on the foothills of the Himalayas. Because of this whisky, in addition to the peat component, the refinement is not declared but the alcohol content is high, well above the average of traditional releases. Aging in selected ex bourbon oak barrels.
TASTE: dense and oily, smoky and spicy, with ash and mineral notes, licorice and citrus
