Speyburn
The Speyburn distillery was founded by John Hopkins in the late 1800s, who chose to build it specifically next to the Granty Burn stream, hidden in a Speyside valley, to have a reserve of water necessary for the production of his whisky. 100 years after its construction, Speyburn is still the only distillery to use pure water from the Granty Burn. John Hopkins succeeded in fulfilling his desire to produce the first whisky for the "Queen's Diamond Jubilee" party in honor of Queen Victoria's sixty years of reign, so in 1897 the first whisky of the Speyburn distillery.
Today the distillery is owned by Inver House Distillers; all Single Malt Speyburns mature in air-dried oak barrels, seasoned with Bourbon or Sherry.
I whisky Speyburns are soft, light, sweet, typical of Speyside.
