The Glenlivet
The Glenlivet distillery was founded by George Smith, in an isolated valley in Glenlivet in Speyside in Scotland way back in 1822; in 1824 George Smith was the first distiller authorized to produce whisky in Speyside. In 1933, the company was headed by Bill Smith, a relative of George Smith, who acquired an important American customer, the "Pullman Train Company", which would help spread the whisky Glenlivet across the continent, serving up miniature bottles on their routes.
In the 1950 whisky Glenlivet was known all over the world, especially by people belonging to the wealthy social classes; today the Glenlivet distillery is still highly regarded and is a landmark of the whisky of Speyside as it was then. All the whisky from the distillery are cold filtered, except for the Nàdurra range; American casks and European casks are used which Master Distiller Alan Winchester carefully selects to create balanced malts.
