Whisky Aerstone 10 Year Old Land Cask
700ml BOTTLE
Aerstone 10 Year Old Land Cask is a new release in the portfolio of William Grant, a Scottish group that brings together some large distilleries such as Glenfiddich and Balvenie but also a new entry in the Scottish panorama, namely Ailsa Bay. Ailsa Bay is located in the Lowlands area and was built in a few months in 2007 on the remains of a distillery that closed in the 80s, namely Girvan. The distillery was designed to give a hand to blended wines whisky of the William Grant group, even if a small part of the production is released as direct bottling, as in this case speaking of Aerstone 10 Year Old Land Cask.
Aerstone Land Cask – unlike its Sea Cask sibling – remains a whisky of land because it spends ten years of aging in barrels in the Ailsa Bay warehouses, far from any potential marine influence. Furthermore, for the refinement it was decided to combine ex Bourbon barrels and ex Sherry barrels, the latter considered the traditional method of aging used above all until the 60s and now in disuse due to a higher cost of the barrels to be used.
TASTE: Intense and spicy, notes of caramel and brown sugar, honey and dried fruit.
AGING: American oak ex Bourbon barrels and European oak ex Sherry barrels.
