Whisky Ardbeg 5 Year Old Wee Beastie

BOTTLE NOT CARTONED 700ml

Ardbeg is a distillery known worldwide for its whisky peaty and of great character. For some years, in addition to the canonical Ten Year Old, the company has decided to expand its core-range with significant additions, among which the most recent is this Wee Beastie. Ardbeg is located on the south coast of the Isle of Islay, Scotland, the most famous island in the world when it comes to whisky peated. The giant LVMH that owns the distillery has invested heavily to ensure the happy continuation of operations, perfecting the history of over two centuries of Ardbeg.

Wee Beastie means "little beast", "critter", an affectionate name to baptize the whisky youngest to be produced by Ardbeg: only five years to give a taste of the potential of the Ardbeg distillate even with a few years of aging in oak barrels on the shoulders. In addition to this, Ardbeg Wee Beastie can count on a significant percentage of whisky aged in ex-Sherry Oloroso casks, i.e. casks already used to refine Sherry Oloroso, a process widely used to add peculiar notes to the whisky which results. The alcohol content chosen for this bottling is 47,4% alcohol by volume, a figure that certainly promises great intensity, as it has been in Ardbeg's DNA for over two centuries.

TASTE

Here too the island part has the best, with the intensity supported by the alcohol volume supporting peat, iodized and smoky notes. Also present herbaceous notes demonstrating the youth of the whisky, together with spicy notes of black pepper and a moderate final sweetness.

AGING

American ex Bourbon barrels and ex Sherry Oloroso barrels.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS ABOUT WHISKY ARDBEG 5 YEAR OLD WEE BEASTIE

Ardbeg is a jewel that is part of the crown of the LVMH group, a group dedicated to luxury and which includes brands of uncommon importance. Just like for the other brands, Ardbeg has embarked on an awareness program, first of all going to seek and defeat its weaknesses and then implement strategies to perfect the state of the art.

Public demand also fell on whisky with age declared on the label, a symbol of transparency and closeness to the final consumer: a promise kept. Today Ardbeg is doubling its production and also focusing a lot on its visitor center, an important business card and, being supported by whisky important as this Ardbeg 5 Wee Beastie, there is no doubt that it will be another great success from LVMH.

Wee Beastie is able to satisfy all palates, not only of peat fanatics but above all of quality fanatics. The story of Ardbeg begins in 1815, now over two centuries ago, in a period in which many distilled away from the inquisitive eyes of the British authorities to avoid having to pay too high duties on a product of which the English cousins were very envious, since there was no such an important distillation tradition on Hadrian's Wall.

The island of Islay has been home to many distilleries because it is perfectly adaptable to any purpose: even though today not much has changed - even though there are cars - the green, vegetal and natural part is predominant, allowing the activities of a distillery to be kept secret. In any case, on the island of Islay - as elsewhere - it is impossible to reach the island without being seen, an element which allowed the local lookouts to warn the various distillers to stop their activities for a few days and disguise them as other work practices.

Since the beginning of the 1800s it has become easier to distill and above all to make one's business legal, also because the royal family has begun to appreciate the pleasure of whisky Scottish and this made the product known to the general public. Today Ardbeg is part of the small handful of distilleries on the island of Islay and embodies the most intense part, with whisky who prefer to express themselves with intensity being able to count on high-quality raw materials and above all on a surrounding environment of rare beauty, which manages to connect with the distillate to give it a complete shape. Aging in this corner of the world is magical both for the beauty of the landscape and for the inevitable link between the inside and outside of each barrel. A whisky which Islay breathes for many years, before revealing itself to the nose of those who have the common sense to buy one of these bottles and make their own a unique experience.

Distillates
Finishing American ex Bourbon barrels and ex Sherry Oloroso barrels.
AROMA A riot of intensity, with peaty, smoky and saline notes to meet. In addition to the more island part, there are fruity and citric notes of lemon and orange peel, along with smoky traits reminiscent of barbecue and bacon. Last but not least, the sweet notes of vanilla.

The youngest, the smallest, but with grown-up stuff. I didn't expect to find so much character and flavor in this whisky , with a decidedly affordable price

As a lover of daring experiences, I got to try the Whisky the Ardbeg 5 Wee Beastie, and I can say without hesitation that this distillate has a taste I won't forget. As for the price, the Ardbeg 5 Wee Beastie is positioned in an affordable range for a whisky of this quality and intensity. I absolutely recommend it to anyone who wants to explore smoky and bold flavors, with a budget price. Fast delivery.

Young and "tough", with a strong personality, peaty at the right point. An excellent Ardbeg, just like the service offered by Aquavitae: quick order, punctual shipping, impeccable packaging. Sincere congratulations!
