Arran Sauternes Cask Finish is a recent introduction to the core range of Arran, a distillery active since 1992 on the Isle of Arran but which has recently decided to completely renew its packaging thanks also to the ever-increasing attention that enthusiasts whisky they are pouring into this seemingly young project.
To highlight the expertise of the people who work in the Arran Warehouses, management have seen fit to introduce a whisky particular, non-canonical, with a short but significant final passage in barrels that previously contained Sauternes wine, the most famous sweet wine in the world from France, home of this delight. Normally the barrels that have aged wine go to connote in a decisive way the whisky and it is therefore easy to lose the compass and find yourself in the hands of a whisky who knows little about whisky and a lot of wine. Arran is second to none and even makes it one of its core range products, i.e. always available.
TASTE: Good spicy intensity, more dried fruit and vanilla, honey and red apple.
AGING: American ex Bourbon oak barrels and barrels that contained Sauternes white wine.
