Ballechin 13 Year Old is a whisky high profile from a small distillery, Edradour, in the Scottish Highlands. Edradour is certainly not a leading distillery, but the beauty of it scotch whisky it also and above all lies in the discovery of infinite nuances of the same material, namely distillation and refinement in wood. Ballechin is a brand that includes several labels all with the prerogative of significant peating, giving a different character to the canonical Edradour releases, also bringing consumers accustomed to a different type of distillate. This Ballechin 13 Year Old is a full proof edition, i.e. without dilution with water but simply pouring into the bottle what was previously in the barrel, giving space to a depth of analysis that only the whisky at full degree they can reach. Ballechin ages for over thirteen years in a mix of ex-sherry and ex-bourbon oak barrels, also being able to count on a rather limited edition and a fair amount of variability from batch to batch. Edradour is a Highland distillery founded way back in 1837 and which produces just over 250.000 liters of whisky per year, a rather low figure.
