Blair Athol 23 Year Old Special Release 2017 represents one of the rare releases of the Special release series, i.e. the annual releases that Diageo selects from all the proprietary distilleries to allow the most demanding enthusiasts to taste top-level versions of whisky of these distilleries. Diageo is a giant in the beverage world and owns about thirty distilleries in Scotland plus a large number of brands and blended whisky, thanks to which it has a dominant position in this world: every year, after the summer, the releases for the Special Releases are announced, which immediately tantalize the palates of the whole world.

In this case it is a limited release for Blair Athol, a Scottish distillery in the Highlands that is not well known but capable of offering a top-quality malt, in this case aged for 23 years in barrels that previously contained sherry.
