Whisky Chieftain's Glenrothes 12 Year Old 1998
700ml BOTTLE
Chieftain's Glenrothes 12 Year Old 1998 is a very special selection of Chieftain's – brand of the independent bottler Ian MacLeod – with a particular refinement: the final part of the aging takes place in barrels that previously contained Barolo wine. This particularity is possible most of the time by independent bottlers who like to play with the notes that peculiar barrels give to whisky preserved in them and with which the olfactory and gustatory heritage of whisky as solid as that of Glenrothes.
The Glenrothes distillery is also quite well known in Italy and the packaging has recently changed completely, but one way to explore this type of whisky it is precisely relying on independent bottlers who only follow their own rules to create limited editions of great character. The selected barrels are two, namely the number 90441 and 90442, combined with a final period in ex Barolo barrels: a way to try to unite Scotland and one of the Italian excellences in the world.
