700ml BOTTLE
A series of exclusive editions of the so-called Rare Malts was launched in 1995 and ended in 2005. As interest in Scottish malts grew, so did the demand for whisky older and more mature and of higher alcohol content. In 2001, therefore, the Special Releases were born, a limited series of annual bottlings with a production varying between 100 and 6000 bottles per distillery. Special Releases include Single Malt and Single Grain Scotch Whisky. These are rare products that are the result of long aging in famous distilleries or that come from closed distilleries or from distilleries that rarely bottle. They are bottled with the wording "Natural Cask Strength" or the alcohol content that we find in the barrel at the time of bottling; "natural" because they are not cold filtered.
TASTE: Complex, peaty, smoky scents; we are not surprised to find that characteristic brackish scent of seaweed in the flavor.
AGING: American oak barrels.
