700ml BOTTLE
Loch Lomond distillery has a peculiar history: we are located in the Scottish Highlands, home to several world-famous distilleries. Right here some investors, after having sold their shares in the Littlemill distillery, which closed in the early 90s, decide to dust off the name Loch Lomond, a distillery founded in 1814 near Lake Lomond. The current Loch Lomond opens its doors in 1964 but only after twenty years, due to the Whisky Global Lock, it is forced to close its gates, before waiting about ten years.
In fact, in 1994 Loch Lomond changed owner and since then continues to produce, by virtue of a peculiarity deriving from the contemporary production of whisky of grain and of whisky of barley, making Loch Lomond one of the few distilleries able to create blended whisky in complete autonomy. There are many agings, making Loch Lomond a distillery worthy of further study, perhaps starting from this Original, the flagship of the distillery, with its lightly peated barley and the peculiar label.
TASTE: The smoky and roasted note is evident, a thread of peat that completes the olfactory bouquet, adding spicy and ripe fruit notes, more spices and the unmistakable creamy scent due to aging in American oak barrels.
