Macallan 15 Year Old Double Cask is a whisky Scottish aged for at least 15 years and coming from The Macallan distillery, one of the most acclaimed by critics and collectors. The Macallan owes its fame to the incessant work of improvement which has been going on since 1824, work which has reached its peak in recent years with the ambitious construction of the new distillery, a building which has cost over one hundred million pounds. But The Macallan is not just luxury: it is above all a distillery anchored to principles as ancient as they are valid, or rather the long aging for its casks which are often ex sherry, or rather how the whisky until the first part of the twentieth century.

The expression of 15 years Double Cask is the union of two types of barrels, always ex Sherry or that have contained Sherry, but of American and European origin. As always in the case of The Macallan, the distillery personally selects the barrels used, discarding most of the suppliers' proposals because they are not in line with The Macallan's high level of standards.
