The Tomatin distillery was founded in 1897 and from 1909 its growth began which led it to be the largest distillery in Scotland during the 70s with a production of around 10 million liters per year; The whisky made by Tomatin was mainly intended for blended whisky such as The Talisman and Antiquary. Following the crisis of whisky the distillery closed its doors in 1985. Subsequently the distillery was acquired by the Japanese Takara Shuzo and Okura & Co. which revolutionized its philosophy, the production of whisky is reduced and the focus is on the quality of the products. In 2016 he celebrates his new course by winning the prize of Whisky Magazine as best distillery of the year.
In 2020 the third Release of the Tomatin 30 Years single malt is presented, a whisky unique matured in ex Bourbon American oak barrels and traditional barrels; is released in a limited edition of 3.000 bottles with an alcohol content of 46% vol.
TASTE: Fresh and aromatic, with fruity notes that combine with creamy vanilla and spices.
