Whisky Ardmore 2010 Duncan Taylor The Octave
700ml BOTTLE
Ardmore is a Scottish distillery that is not well known despite producing over five million liters every year: most of it is used for blended whisky, thus going to reinforce other products with the typical robust character of the distillery. Despite this, a small proportion is bottled and sold under the distillery's name, including the bottle below. In reality, it is an extremely limited series in terms of number that comes out with the name of the distillery and under the brand of Duncan Taylor, one of the most famous and influential independent bottlers in Scotland, based in Speyside and in the selection business and marketing since 1938.
The peculiarity of Ardmore is the slight peat between 12 and 14ppm, or Parts Per Million, an intermediate value between zero and 50 / 55ppm of the most peated distilleries, for example some of the island of Islay. The refinement takes place for eight years in octave barrels, i.e. with a capacity of about 50 liters, one eighth compared to traditional barrels.
TASTE: Intense and smoky, with a notable spiciness that is colored with yellow fruit and citrus fruits, dried fruit of great elegance.
AGING: American oak barrels.
