Whisky Chieftain's Cigar Malt 14 Year Old 2006
700ml BOTTLE
Chieftain's Cigar Malt 14 Year Old 2006 is a whisky special selected by Ian MacLeod for the Chieftain's line with the express purpose of offering a whisky suitable for pairing with slow smoking, with a good cigar. Chieftain's takes care of selecting single casks from the various Scottish distilleries by finding high-level casks to maintain a high standard. In this case the selection fell on a single cask – number 6175 – from an unknown Speyside distillery, the whisky it remained in the cask from May 2006 to November 2011 and the cask is peculiar, i.e. a first fill sherry butt, i.e. a cask previously used to contain Spanish sherry wine and then disassembled and sent to Scotland to be refined whisky.
This refinement method is more expensive than the classic ex bourbon barrels due to the rarity of this material but also due to the positive effects on whisky the final. In addition to this, Chieftain's has decided not to cold filter and not to color with caramel, also maintaining an important alcohol content of 59% vol, a big step forward in terms of intensity and character
