Whisky Connemara Peated Original
700ml BOTTLE
It is possible to do whiskey peated Irish? Absolutely yes: word of Connemara Peated Original. The history of Connemara is peculiar: John Teeling decided in 1987 to open a new independent Irish distillery, as the other distilleries in Ireland were part of the Irish Distillers group. The new distillery is called Cooley and slowly adds useful pieces to give the opportunity to taste this new version of whiskey from the greenest island in the world.
Connemara presents itself as a new project starting in 1999, with the peculiarity of peat acting as a link with the great whisky Scottish peats. Cooley's production is very large and is also labeled with other names: today the distillery is part of the Beam Suntory group which acquired it in 2012 for a good amount: John Teeling has invested everything in the construction of a new distillery. Connemara is based on double distillation - always on the Scottish scheme - and the Original recipe provides for aging for a few years in ex Bourbon barrels, without age declaration.
TASTE: Elegant and graceful, with never too intense smoking, then sweet notes of fruit and vanilla, honey and spices.
AGING: American ex Bourbon oak barrels.
