Rum Don Papa Port Cask Limited Edition was created to pay homage to the incredible first circumnavigation of the earth five hundred years ago. The Spaniards landed in the Philippine archipelago and discovered that this fabulous land had fertile and rich soil, which gave the sugar cane properties that made it sweeter and more aromatic. The volcanic soil of this area now known as "Sugarlandia" on the slopes of the still active volcano Mt. Kanlaon, has given an additional level of complexity to this sugar cane.
Don Papa Rum Port Cask Limited Edition is produced and bottled on the island of Negros and then aged beautifully thanks to the island's tropical climate. Don Papa Port Cask rum is produced with molasses derived from sugar cane grinding; it ages for seven years, two of which in American oak barrels that have previously aged Bourbon Whiskey and five years in European oak barrels which have contained port wine. The character of this rum is so intense and strong that it recalls majestic Port wines with the classic characteristic notes of ripe red berries, red citrus fruits, deep notes of sweet spices and chocolate.
TASTE: Notes of toasted wood, coffee and caramel. Fresh with a hint of coffee and vanilla, dried fruit and ripe figs.
