El Dorado Rum 5 Year Old belongs to the official El Dorado rum range of Demerara Distillers Ltd, which to date is the only distillery in operation in Demerara, English Guyana. The history of sugar cane production in the eastern part of the Demerara River begins in the 1600s when Demerara Distillers Ltd began producing Caribbean rum. The distilleries that produced rum in those years were over 300 but with the increase in sugar taxes meant that only a few distilleries remained active and only in the early 2000s the distilleries remained under a single distillery which is precisely the Demerara joined the Diamond. Distillers. 

The rums produced are authentic to the first colonial rums in pure English style of the 1800s, with the distillation of sugarcane juice coming directly from the plantations on the river bank. Thanks to a land that has been completely reclaimed during the past centuries, the sugar cane in question is rich in nutrients that the soil grants it. Therefore rich in minerals, it then gives the final distillate a wide range of intense aromas and perfumes.

All El Dorado products are of the highest quality and are a unique collection of the Caribbean, including several rums that belong to important aging even over 25 years.

A peculiarity of El Dorado rums is to report on the label the younger age of the rum with which the reference blend was produced. So even a rum, as in this case, with a minimum aging of 5 years could contain older rums always belonging to the El Dorado collection. 

El Dorado 5 Year Old rests for five years in oak barrels and is the youngest of the collection but still shows a remarkably intense character. Definitely versatile and often used to prepare long drinks as well 

TASTE: An intense, typically caramelized flavor with hints of vanilla. Toasted notes and ripe fruit that evolve into sweet and soft spicy notes in the finish.
