Whisky Glenkinchie The Distillers Edition 2021
700ml BOTTLE
Single Malt distilled in 2009 by Glenkinchie in the Lowland region, subsequently aged for 12 years, first in American oak barrels and then finished in ex Sherry Amontillado barrels, to ensure a good balance between the sweetness and dry character of Glenkinchie. It is released in 2021 for the Diageo "The Distillers Edition" range.
Distillers Editions are Single Malts that undergo a particular maturation process. Each of them, after having spent the normal period of aging in American oak barrels, undergoes a second (or "double") aging in a barrel that previously contained a fortified wine. The duration of this second maturation depends on the moment in which the aroma of the distillate is perfectly developed; generally between 6 and 12 months.
TASTE: Dry, sweetness of the biscuit, with notes of malt that contrast with the subtle fruitiness of the grape. The finish is very long and dry, with spices and oak as protagonists.
AGING: American oak barrels and ex Sherry Amontillado barrels.
