Highland Park Valkyrie is part of a limited series called Viking Legend that the Highland Park Distillery created to honor the memory and history of the Vikings, of which Orkney Island was a part centuries ago. For some years now, the distillery has partially modified its image by binding itself more and more to the myths and legends of the Viking Pantheon, to better honor the memory of the people who crossed the seas and built an empire in the cold North. The typically impetuous, peaty and maritime character of this distillate is well suited to the names of the brave warriors and the Nordic divinities, creating a valid parallelism. The Viking Legend limited series consists of three releases, including this Valkyrie with a unique character: in fact the base spirit has a double peatness compared to the rest of the Highland Park releases, combined with a prolonged aging in ex Sherry barrels of European oak and American with the classic addition of ex Bourbon barrels as per the tradition of the distillery. A never tame character that especially meets the palates in search of strong sensations. The Viking character is an essential component. This Single Malt Scotch Whisky age at least 17 years.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS ABOUT WHISKY HIGHLAND PARK VALKYRIE

The Valkyrie is a central figure in Norse mythology, which is the only deputy to select the warriors who fell in battle and worthy of Valhalla, where the banquet with the various Nordic gods has always lasted and will never end. Highland Park refers to the mythological context of the North as a stylistic choice and as an attitude, going to select some important figures to which to approach a certain whisky, a label with similarities and affinities.

In this case, the Valkyrie of Highland Park has selected some barrels from the various warehouses that the distillery owns and has combined them to create a whisky of guaranteed intensity, also because the starting malt undergoes a much more important peat than the other releases of Highland Park. A whisky therefore of incisiveness and personality, certain that it would not look out of place even in that banquet mentioned above.
