Flóki Single Malt Icelandic Birch Finish is a whisky unique, designed around the wood in which the whisky it will spend the last months of refinement. Premise: the Floki distillery is the only one on the Icelandic island and after a few years of experiments it decided to devote itself completely to distillation, combining gin and whisky and often using curious and unique refinements, just like in this case Flóki Single Malt Icelandic Birch Finish is in fact a whisky which ages for three years in regular ex bourbon barrels – the classic par excellence – before spending a few months in Icelandic birch wood barrels, one of the few trees native to Iceland and for this reason even more symbolic of the link between the distillery and the place of origin of raw materials. A far more than courageous choice that has become necessary for the guys at the Floki distillery.
