Whisky Nikka Miyagikyo Single Malt

700ml BOTTLE

Japan, early 1969s: a young man named Masataka Taketsuru is sent by his employer to Scotland to learn the jealously guarded secrets of Scottish distillers. Masataka stayed in Scotland for several years and worked in some distilleries, eventually marrying a Scottish girl and returning to Japan. Once back, Masataka set up a company and opened his first distillery, which was followed in XNUMX by another, namely Miyagikyo: Masataka based the project on the great distilleries of the Scottish Highlands, shifting production to the mountains as opposed to the first. Masataka distillery, Yoichi, overlooking the sea.

Nikka Miyagikyo Single Malt is the whisky most representative of this distillery, combining the technical perfection of Japanese distillation with a long aging in oak barrels that previously contained Spanish sherry. Miyagikyo malt is one of the most sought after in the world: interest in the Japanese distillate is very high today, so much so that the stocks of the country's distilleries are very limited. Distilled in the Miyagikyo distillery located in the Miyagi Valley, a region in the north of the Japanese island of Honshu, recognized for the purity of its air and the quality of its spring waters, Miyagikyo produces a Nikka Single Malt with a refined malt characterized by unmistakable aromas of fresh fruit.

NB: The purchase is limited to 1 bottle per customer.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS ABOUT WHISKY NIKKA MIYAGIKYO SINGLE MALT

Miyagikyo represents a dream for the young Masataka Taketsuru, so much so that it took almost fifty years from his return to Japan to its opening: a necessary period first of all to metabolize the Second World War and the atomic disasters of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, then to start making the Japanese internal market talk to the rest of the world, giving way to imports and exports that have had a considerable influence on the culture of the Land of the Rising Sun.

Masataka had to wait many years before being able to impose his ideas in terms of distillation, having had little success with the first part of his career: the whisky Scottish-style did not meet the favor of his compatriots, forcing him to close his activities and wait for a new lender to be able to put into practice what he had learned in the obscure Scottish distilleries shortly after the First World War. Today Nikka and Miyagikyo are synonymous with the highest quality, without a doubt.
