Whisky Glengoyne 12 Year Old
700ml BOTTLE
The Glengoyne distillery is located just north of Glasgow and is often chosen as a tourist destination by visitors to the city and Scotland, a sort of tourist attraction that however manages to maintain the focus on the high quality of the distillate produced here: founded in 1833 and passed through various changes of ownership - like most Scottish distilleries - it has been part of the Ian MacLeod group since 2003 and today produces more than one million liters of distillate a year.
An important technical aspect to understand the care in the production process is the extreme slowness of the distillation, reaching 4/5 liters of white spirit per minute, a much lower value than the Scottish average. The resulting taste is particularly soft and often aided by the refinement in oak barrels that previously contained Spanish sherry. In this case, the refinement lasts for twelve years, sufficient time to guarantee a good maturity to the distillate: a true gem of Scotland.
TASTE: Elegant and soft, with ample fruity notes of red fruit and dried fruit, caramel and honey, spices and licorice root.
AGING: American ex Bourbon barrels and European ex Sherry barrels.
