ADDITIONAL DETAILS ABOUT WHISKY LAPHROAIG SELECT

Dominating the splendid bay overlooked by the Laphroaig distillery is certainly an important incentive for the bicentennial work that the company staff is carrying out with taste and adherence to a distant tradition, a residue of the first stirrings of distillation on the island of Islay. The homeland of the whisky peat is certainly not an easy environment in which to try to emerge, yet Laphroaig has focused on the awareness of being able to achieve great goals, all without ever losing sight of the traditions and the unique taste that can only be obtained here from the distillation of barley malted.

Peat is certainly a fundamental ingredient in this delicate balance, a maritime peat that joins both the balsamic and maritime notes as a dowry with the refinement a few steps from the sea. The choice to combine the classic 10 Years of distillery with a whisky more agile and with a constantly changing recipe, it is a choice motivated by the ever-increasing demand for whisky all over the world, even from an audience that until a few years ago didn't even know how to place the whisky in your palate.

The selection that underlies this Laphroaig Select is also close to the world of mixing, with a truly special ingredient for every type of preparation. From the classic whisky on the rocks, moving on to the various Highballs up to molecular mixing, Laphroaig Select is the right choice to enclose a sip of Islay in your chalice (or glass, or mug) giving life to a mental journey that has few rivals. At the same time, being able to count on a whisky of entry of such high value will be able to hearten the palates of those who love their own whisky smooth, without ever losing sight of the unique character of the distillery and the great experience of the Laphroaig technicians.

INSIGHT ON WHISKY LAPHROAIG SELECT

Laphroaig Select is a whisky which has appeared in the Distillery's core range for a few years, adding an important piece that complements the various 10 Years Old and Quarter Casks with a whisky exuberant - given his young age - and above all a proud custodian of the prerogatives of this distillate.

Laphroaig Select is in fact a particular selection that John Campbell - the Master Distiller of the distillery - proposes by selecting the barrels that make up the final result one by one, combining different types of wood as it is not necessary to obtain a specific result but just that the whisky final is the exact proposal of what all whisky of Laphroaig they must be. The characteristics to be respected are the olfactory and organoleptic intensity, the peat, the maritime notes and the medicinal notes: John Campbell has these pillars in mind when he sits at the table to study which barrels to combine.

Laphroaig Select is the result of the balanced combination of various types of barrels: on the one hand we have the classic virgin American oak barrels flanked by some European oak barrels which previously contained Oloroso sherry. We add some barrels that previously contained Pedro Ximenez sherry and the canonical first passage American oak ex-bourbon barrels to have an important result in terms of sensations on the nose and in the mouth. Laphroaig is a whisky which in the two centuries of history of the distillery has stood out for its well-defined character, never tamed, with an important but also appreciable intensity, without wanting to be too complex or hard to deal with, preferring to be loved for its characteristics and not to be hated for their own defects.

This Laphroaig Select is nothing more than an act of love towards the philosophy of the distillery, with the classic peaty, medicinal and iodine notes of Laphroaig emerging and the various types of barrels used in the refinement giving deep sensations of great quality and unique character. Laphroaig Select is a whisky which in our opinion can explain better than a thousand books how overwhelming love can be for whisky peated, being able to afford to have a sip from a bottle of unquestionable value in your glass. Another secret that we want to reveal to you is the chameleon-like capacity of this whisky to support every other ingredient in the endeavor of creating unforgettable cocktails, in a historical moment in which mixing and bartenders are increasingly visible and are always looking for ingredients to uniquely sign their drinks. Laphroaig Select can also do this and, in addition to warming the hearts of anyone who puts their nose into it, it can become the secret ingredient for the success of a party, a celebration with friends, being able to count on the crystalline quality of a distillate that does not fears comparisons.

Laphroaig Select is a bottle that we wholeheartedly recommend to those who want to face the harshness of the uncontaminated nature of the island of Islay, home of the great whisky Scottish peats and mother of the Laphroaig distillery. Since 1815 with the heart.

Great price, very fast delivery. The technical data sheet is very precise and perfectly explains the characteristics of this selection. I saw some reviews and I agree with the others. I will make other online purchases on this site also because the packaging is excellent.

Good, shipping within 24 hours, well packed

For the price it's practically a gift. The 10-year aging gives it a special flavor and therefore I couldn't help but leave a 5-star review
