Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch No.9 is the new batch for this whisky proposed just a few years ago by the Glengyle distillery, recently brought back to life by its neighbors in Springbank. We are located on the Campbeltown peninsula and a couple of decades ago the Scotch Whisky Association threatened to eliminate the Campbeltown name as there were only two operating distilleries in the area. One of these, Springbank, deemed it appropriate to take action and decided to reopen Glengyle, a name used at the beginning of the twentieth century and no longer in production for decades. In a few years Kilkerran - the whisky produced by Glengyle - has been able to push forward and make a name for itself, offering various labels including this Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch No.9: a breath of peat and aging in ex bourbon (90%) and ex sherry (10%) barrels for a result to know and love.
